amalie: check in with yourself

We have long wanted to talk with Amalie Reedtz-Thott as she truly seem to understand the importance of the connection between the mind and body. So much that she’s created a nutrition line with focus on exactly that. If you follow her on Instagram, you will already understand what we mean as her feed is full of mindful posts that foster calmness and feel so different from the rest of the social universe. Her feed is full of nature, light and family. But her journey hasn’t always been easy - she’s been through bumps and hard times to get where she is today. Make sure you follow her on Instagram right here.

Hi Amalie, could you tell us a bit about who you are and how you are feeling at the moment?
I am Amalie, 29 years old. Educated Nurse, creator of Nurture Vitaviva a mindful supplement line. I am married to Martin and mother to our girl Bobbie. I am a big believer of the body and mind connection, and how much power we have over ourselves and the way we think and live our lives. I am feeling good and excited and I am very pregnant. I know that my world is going to change in a minute with more chaos, love and uncertainty.

We love following your universe on Instagram. You seem to have such a holistic take on self-care - can you tell us a bit about your approach and how your journey with wellness started?
My self-care journey started after I experienced harmful stress. Before that I was very aware of my body and mind, but the universe wanted me to go even deeper, apparently. And I did. I made my recovery from stress a life style change. Self-care is not just something I do once in a while like a yoga class or a green juice. It’s an ongoing daily awareness and presence. I am not saying every day is mindful and happy, but I am leaning to acknowledge my feelings and questioning my beliefs and actions everyday. I couldn’t be on this journey without my life partner because it takes a lot of effort from both of us.

What effect do you think your wellness routines have on both your mental and physical wellbeing?
Wellness for me is a long hot shower , a massage, retreats, yoga classes, a slow cooked meal. Those sacred moments in a busy life are very important for me. To do something nurturing for myself through out the week is how I charge up my batteries.

Have you ever had a moment where you didn’t prioritise it?
Yes I did. I think when you overlook your own needs for to long it always comes with a price. When your body speaks up, it’s your duty to listen

Your supplement series with vitaviva has a focus on natural ingredients and it has a very mindful approach to vitamins. We love that as it can often feel so functional and with a focus on only the physical part of wellness. What’s your mission behind ‘nurture vitaviva’?
My mission with Nurture Vitaviva is to make people more aware of how they feel. If people are able to ask themselves if they feel stressed, down, overwhelmed og burnt out before purchasing my products, I would be extremely happy. I think it’s so important to constantly check in with yourself and each other. Nurture Vitaviva is a supplement line especially designed for stressful times in our lives. With vitamins, minerals, herbs and oils that help regulate you mood and nurture your body. And if you are aware of nurturing you body you will also nurture you mind.

We at sitre would love if intimacy could be viewed as a part of the wellness world as sex has so many physical and mental benefits. What’s your thoughts on intimacy and wellness?
I also believe that intimacy is a very big part of wellness and self-care, and often overlooked. I read somewhere that sex should be like a meditation. Be present, live in the moment, let your worries float away, enjoy yourself and each other. It’s sometimes easer said that done, but that’s my goal.

Do you think the world is ready for this transition to happen?
Yes I think now is the time!

Finally: what advice would you give if someone weren’t feeling happy with their current life situation but didn’t have the energy to find out how to do something about it?
You have the power within you. Sometimes it’s takes time but light will come if you search for it.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and journey, Amalie.
